Apple's Get Ready window for the iPhone Duo opens today, October 12. This is the practical, step-by-step version. For background on how Get Ready fits into launch week, see our iPhone Duo pre-order setup explainer.

Your Get Ready checklist

Work through these in order. Each one is a decision you can lock in tonight.

1. Color

Apple offers two colors: star white and night sky, both with a grade 5 titanium build. Pick one now. If you are torn, our iPhone Duo colors guide compares them side by side.

2. Capacity

The iPhone Duo comes in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. Here is where pricing stands:

Storage Price (U.S.) Status
256GB $1,999 Confirmed by Apple
512GB $2,199 Reported (MacRumors, September 28, 2026)
1TB $2,599 Reported (MacRumors, September 28, 2026)
2TB $3,199 Reported (MacRumors, September 28, 2026)

Treat the higher tiers as estimates until you see the price on Apple's order page. Our price, release date and specs guide tracks every figure.

3. Carrier

Apple says the iPhone Duo uses an eSIM-only design worldwide, supported by over 500 carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Choose your carrier now, and make sure you can sign in to your carrier account, since moving your line to eSIM is part of setup. For monthly cost comparisons, see our carrier cost breakdown.

4. Accessories

Apple announced two official accessories, both orderable from October 16:

  • iPhone Duo Case, $79 (U.S.), in navy blue or sand.
  • iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand, $129 (U.S.), in navy blue or taupe.

Adding one to your saved order means the phone is protected from day one. Details are in our iPhone Duo accessories roundup.

5. AppleCare

Apple says customers can choose AppleCare+ to cover a new iPhone or, in available markets, AppleCare One. On a $1,999 first-generation foldable, decide tonight whether you want coverage rather than skipping past it at checkout. Our durability guide covers what the IP68 rating does and does not protect against.

6. Trade-in

If you plan to trade in your current phone, set it up during Get Ready. Note that Apple's advertised monthly payment amounts may not include a trade-in device's estimated value. Our iPhone Duo trade-in guide explains how condition affects your credit and how to prepare your old phone.

7. Payment

Decide how you will pay before Friday. Apple lists three routes for U.S. buyers:

  • Pay in full: $1,999 for the 256GB model.
  • Monthly installments: from $83.29 per month for 24 months.
  • Apple Upgrade: a leasing program provided by Klarna, starting at $57.99 per month for 24 months. Apple says it requires Apple Card Monthly Installments as the payment type at checkout.

Apple also says new and qualified returning subscribers who buy an iPhone Duo can get three months of Apple One free.

Before you log off tonight

  • Confirm every Get Ready selection is saved: color, capacity, carrier, accessories, AppleCare, trade-in, and payment.
  • Check that your shipping address and payment details are current.
  • Set an alarm for Friday, October 16, a few minutes before 8 a.m. ET (5 a.m. PT).
  • Only order through Apple, your carrier, or a trusted retailer. Nothing can be ordered before October 16.

With all of that done, Friday is one tap. Our iPhone Duo pre-order guide covers where else you can buy and what to expect on launch morning.
