Updated October 22, 2026: Apple now lists carrier trade-in offers for all three major US carriers at checkout.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB, and the carrier offers promise to knock a large share of that off. Apple's US checkout now shows a trade-in offer from each of the three major carriers: up to $1,200 with AT&T, up to $1,000 with T-Mobile, and up to $840 with Verizon. Read the terms Apple publishes alongside them, though, and none is a simple discount at checkout. Here is what each offer requires, as Apple's checkout terms describe it, what it costs over the full term, and how Apple's own options compare.
Key takeaways
- AT&T: up to $1,200, paid as bill credits over 36 months on an eligible unlimited plan, according to Apple's checkout terms.
- T-Mobile: up to $1,000 with a trade-in in any condition on its top plans, paid as an Apple instant trade-in credit plus T-Mobile bill credits over 24 or 36 months.
- Verizon: up to $840 for existing customers on Unlimited Ultimate, and up to $1,000 for new lines on that plan, per Apple's terms, paid over 36 months.
- Xfinity Mobile's offer (up to $1,000 with a trade-in) is as reported on October 15; it is not listed at Apple's checkout.
- Apple's own trade-in is credited instantly, and the phone is not tied to a carrier plan.

AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon figures and terms are from the offer terms on Apple's iPhone Duo buy page, checked October 22, 2026. Xfinity Mobile figures are third-party reported, as attributed below. Offers are limited-time and subject to change.
AT&T: up to $1,200, paid over three years
Apple's checkout terms for AT&T's iPhone Duo deal set the credit by plan and by the model and condition of the phone you trade in:
- Most eligible AT&T unlimited plans: $1,200, $930, or $350.
- Extra 2.0 Unlimited Extra, Unlimited Extra EL, and AT&T Unlimited Starter plans: $930 or $350.
- AT&T Value 2.0: $500 or $350.
The credit is applied as monthly bill credits over a 36-month 0% APR installment plan, starting within three bills, and it requires an upgrade of an existing line or a new line. Apple's terms list a $35 activation or upgrade fee, and say that if you cancel eligible service, the credits stop and you owe the remaining device balance.
Now the math. AT&T's October 9 announcement, as reported by Readus247, tied the full $1,200 to its Premium 2.0 plan, listed from $100 a month, and a trade-in worth at least $230; Apple's checkout terms do not name a plan price or a minimum trade-in value. At $100 a month, 36 months is $3,600 in plan payments to collect $1,200 in credits, or about $33.33 a month back. On a $1,999.99 installment balance over 36 months (about $55.56 a month), the credits would bring the device payment down to roughly $22.22 a month. That is a good deal if you already want a top AT&T plan for three years, and a poor one if the plan is the only reason you are switching.
AT&T also reportedly offers two extras, as reported on October 15 and not listed in Apple's checkout terms:
- Switchers: up to $800 per line toward the balance owed on a phone from another carrier, paid as a reward card that arrives in 8 to 10 weeks.
- Online orders: up to $200 per line when you order online and activate a new line, paid as 36 monthly credits of $5.56.
T-Mobile: up to $1,000, any-condition trade-in on top plans
Apple's checkout lists T-Mobile's iPhone Duo deal as up to $1,000 with an eligible trade-in in any condition. According to Apple's terms:
- Top credit: $1,000, $700, or $500 (based on the model and condition of your trade-in) on Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience Beyond, or Go5G Next plans at $100 a month or more after AutoPay, excluding 55+, Military, and First Responder plans. That applies to existing customers, added lines, and, on Experience Beyond 2.0, new customers.
- Lower plans get less: for example, $800, $600, or $400 on Experience More 2.0, Experience More, or Go5G Plus ($85 a month or more), and $300 or $150 for existing customers on Experience Signature, Go5G, Magenta, Magenta MAX, Essentials 2.0, or Essentials plans.
- Any-condition trade-ins are accepted on Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience Beyond, and Go5G Next.
- How it is paid: an Apple instant trade-in credit at checkout plus T-Mobile monthly bill credits over the loan term of 24 or 36 months. Apple's terms say 36-month financing is only available on Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience More 2.0, or Essentials 2.0.
- Conditions: a $35 device connection charge, credits that end if you pay off the phone early, and a limit of four promotions on any iPhone per account.
At $100 a month, three years on a qualifying plan is at least $3,600 in plan payments for $1,000 in credit.
Verizon: up to $840, or $1,000 for new lines
Apple's checkout headline for Verizon is "Save up to $840 with an eligible trade-in in any condition." The terms underneath set the credit by plan, by customer type, and by the model of your trade-in:
| Verizon plan (min. price with AutoPay) | Existing customers | New customers or added lines |
|---|---|---|
| Unlimited Ultimate ($95/mo) | $840 or $420 | $1,000 or $500 |
| Unlimited Plus ($80/mo) | $660 or $330 | $840 or $420 |
| Unlimited Welcome ($65/mo) | $300 or $150 | $480 or $240 |
According to Apple's terms, the credit is an Apple instant trade-in credit at checkout plus Verizon monthly bill credits over 36 months, and it requires buying the Duo on the Verizon Device Payment Program at 0% APR for 36 months, on an eligible unlimited plan. You must stay in the Device Payment Program for 36 months to get the full benefit, and bill credits may take one to two bill cycles to appear. Note that the headline figure of $840 is lower than the $1,000 the terms list for new customers and added lines on Unlimited Ultimate.
At Unlimited Ultimate's $95 minimum, 36 months is $3,420 in plan payments for $840 to $1,000 in credit. Our October 15 version of this article reported a waived activation fee as Verizon's only Duo-specific term; Apple's checkout terms do not list an activation fee waiver.
Xfinity Mobile: up to $1,000, with strings attached
Xfinity Mobile is not listed at Apple's checkout. As published here on October 15: according to Xfinity Mobile's deals page, as reported by PhoneArena and Wirefly, new Mobile Plus customers and existing Diamond members with Mobile Plus can get up to $1,000 off the Duo with an eligible trade-in. That would bring the 256GB model down to $999. The requirements: open a new Mobile Plus line, buy on a device payment plan, and be an Xfinity Internet customer. Without a trade-in, Mobile Plus customers reportedly get $400 off instead.
If you already pay Comcast for home internet, this may be the lowest effective price on the table. If you do not, the internet requirement turns a phone deal into a broadband decision.
Apple's own options
Apple trade-in. Apple has not published a maximum or Duo-specific values. Press reporting puts the range at $175 to $885 for an iPhone 13 or later. The key difference from the carriers: Apple credits the trade-in instantly at checkout, not over 24 or 36 months, and you send the traded device back within 14 days. On the 256GB model, that reported range would put your price between $1,114 and $1,824, with no plan commitment and an unlocked phone.
Apple Upgrade with Klarna. MarketWatch reports leases from $57.99 a month over 24 months or $82.99 a month over 12 months. Over the full term, that is about $1,391.76 or $995.88. It is a lease, not a purchase: the phone is not yours at the end, and AppleCare is not included. For more on financing the Duo month by month, see our iPhone Duo monthly cost breakdown.
Who gets the best real-world price
- Already an Xfinity Internet customer with a phone to trade in: Xfinity Mobile's reported $1,000 off is the strongest headline, provided you are fine opening a new Mobile Plus line.
- Opening a new Verizon line on Unlimited Ultimate: Apple's terms list $1,000 in credit, more than the $840 headline, over 36 months.
- Already on a top AT&T or T-Mobile plan and staying three years: the credits are real money, but only if you keep the qualifying plan for the full term.
- Want flexibility: Apple's instant trade-in credit and an unlocked phone avoid a multi-year commitment, even if the headline number is smaller.

Does T-Mobile have an iPhone Duo deal?
Yes. Apple's checkout lists up to $1,000 with an eligible trade-in in any condition. Per Apple's terms, the top credit requires an Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience Beyond, or Go5G Next plan at $100 a month or more after AutoPay, and is paid as an Apple instant trade-in credit plus T-Mobile monthly bill credits.
Does Verizon have an iPhone Duo trade-in deal?
